But what do these alphanumeric codes mean?

Let’s break it down.

00P refers to continuous lines from the “1900s”, specifically “pre-millennium”. If you have an item with 00P on the tag, it’s likely a vintage piece, as Chanel hasn’t used this code since the early 2000s.

But in the world of Chanel, the year 2000 marked a significant turning point for brand. This special year was spearheaded by the legendary fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld, alongside the fashion team, and marketing directors, who embarked on a transformative journey. This era is often referred to as the “uprooting era”. If you come across an item with the tag 00T, it signifies that it was manufactured during the year 2000, with the “T” denoting “transition”. Such items are highly coveted by fashion enthusiasts and serve as a valuable addition to any collection since this collection was very limited due to one year production time not like the rest.

Finally, 00V holds a significant place as it symbolizes the revolving lines of the 2000s circa. The letter “V” in 00V derives from the French word “Virevoltant”, meaning revolving.
