@zeko_authentication on Instagram: "Same color code but different shade? I know many of you wonder why some bags with the same color code or if you bought a bag and a SLG with the same color code and from the same season show a different shade of color. The main reason for this issue is the type of leather hide used. For example, The 22S Caramel is much thicker and sturdier than the 21P caramel. You could swear it’s calfskin! But they are both made of lambskin. The 22S is made from more ( mature sheep leather ), whereas the 21P leather is made from a younger sheep. Due to age and size, the leather on more mature sheep has more grains/ hair follicles, and the skin is tougher and darker, whereas younger sheep’s skin is softer, less grainy, and lighter in color originally (didn’t get patina yet). So because of these characteristics difference in the hide, the caramel color will look a bit darker on the 22S compared to the 21P. Younger sheep leather will absorb the dye more and will not need as much dye in the first place as the mature one because; 1- it has fewer grains due to age/size. 2- the grains are softer, again due to age. 3- the skin is smoother ( more collagen) 3- the skin is naturally lighter before tanning due to age as well. Both are gorgeous, and you can’t choose one over the other. But for reference, the 21P is softer to the touch and less firm, whereas the 22S is not as soft ( still incredibly soft, lol) with a more sturdy and firm shape. I added microscopic pictures for both so you can see the difference in the texture of the skin."
