Why the Leather on Your Chain Strap Is Cut? Don’t worry because It’s Not a Defect!

Usually the long woven chains are made from two pieces of leather glued together instead of a single piece for several reasons:

  • Size Limitations:
Large, flawless pieces of leather are hard to source, so using two pieces ensures better quality and reduces waste.
  • Reinforcement and Durability:
Joining two pieces side by side increases strength, making the leather less likely to stretch, tear, or wear out quickly by reducing weak points. In life in general, the stress is always less and distributed evenly between two instead of one.

Same for the snakeskin leather or python on bags. The size of the snakeskin is limited as they come in relatively small sections, so multiple pieces need to be stitched together to cover the entire surface area of the bag.
