Coco Chanel was strongly drawn to nautical themes and motifs in her designs, inspired by her love for the sea and the French Riviera where she spent much of her time. Her fascination with nautical style can be traced back to her childhood when she spent time at the seaside. In her designs, Chanel incorporated elements of sailor uniforms, including Breton stripes, sailboats, ropes, lifeguard wheels, anchors, and more.
