A Cozy Quest into the Flat Quilt.

And BOOM!! šŸ˜†

If youā€™re on the hunt for your first, or next, classic flap, there are concealed details in the leather to investigate. These secrets may be hidden on purpose or by accident, but itā€™s my mission to uncover them for you. So, letā€™s take a peek at the leather, top and beneath!

Normal crease lineĀ

Ā

1. The Mystery:

Ā

Picture two Chanel flap bags, each as lovely as the other on the surface. But just like those people who seem perfect and flawless at first, until they reveal their true personalities, your flap has layers as well!

Ā

ā€¢ Pillow Talk: Visualize the plushness of a perfectly filled pillow. Thatā€™s the kind of stuffing we want in our bag. The more, the better - it keeps those wrinkles away! However, an under-stuffed bag will end up looking as sad as a deflated pillow.

Ā

ā€¢ Sheet Tales: The tension of the leather on your bagā€™s body is a crucial clue. Think about your bed; itā€™s the same concept as a fitted sheet. When the leather is stretched tight during crafting, the quilted pattern emerges smoother and puffier, and they stay in place. But when the leather isnā€™t as stretched, itā€™s like a loosely fitted sheet, and hello, creases!

Ā

2. The Twist:

Ā

Hereā€™s where it gets interesting. Unlocking the bag alters the strain on its exterior. The tug of the upper flap by the CC clasp mimics the tug at your fitted sheetā€™s corners. Itā€™s like letting go of a tightly pulled fitted sheet. This might remind you of those moments when your partner finally asks, ā€œwhatā€™s wrong with you?ā€ and BOOM! Itā€™s showtime!! It all comes down to that tension release! Lol.

Thatā€™s a big, bouncy ball of Nope-Nopety-Nope!

Ā

The Examination:

Ā

- Online Shopping Tips: Donā€™t shy away from asking the seller for pictures of the bag wide open. You should be able to spot any heavy creasing, although some light lines are expected. A side view will give you a sneak peek into the padded area (tucked away between the upper flap and the interior lining). Thicker padding is always a plus.

Ā

- In-Person Inspection: If the bag is in your possession or within reach, go ahead and press one quilt with your finger. A top-notch, well-stuffed flap wonā€™t give too much. It should feel firm to your touch and bounce back quickly. However, donā€™t forget, lambskin will be a bit softer than caviar leather.

Ā

-Keep an eye out for tight stitches over the padding. Remember, the quilts puff up more in the middle if the stitching is tight.

Ā

-More puff, more fun! Over time, the quilts will deflate a bit, so the puffier it starts, the longer it lasts!ā¤ļø
